Police said it took a three hour manhunt and five arrests to bust a local meth-making ring.
On Tuesday, Wilmington Police got a call at the Travel Lodge on Market Street that hotel cleaning staff found both methamphetamine and the precursors for making the drug.
Police said they arrested Nikolas Frederick on related charges, then found more materials in another room at the same lodge. That is when police said they could identify more people involved in the meth-making operation.
On Wednesday, Timmy Carter was arrested on drug charges relating to the case.
On Wednesday night, investigators said they spotted three more people involved in the operation in a parked car, at the corner of South 17th Street and Independence Boulevard. Police said the people in the car threw out some items which are typically used for making the drug. Investigators followed the car to Handee Hugo's on Shipyard Boulevard.
Police said a strong, chemical smell was coming from the trunk of the vehicle. That is where police said they found a mobile meth lab. Investigators arrested two people, but the driver ran away.
After a three hour manhunt through the Pine Valley neighborhood, Dallas Thomas was arrested on drug related charges and outstanding warrants from Harnett County, including assault on a female and assault on a government official.
In total, five people were arrested in the case including Nikolas Frederick, Timmy Carter, Dallas Thomas, Jeffrey Robert Lunceford, and Jordan Thomas Schofield.
