People working in a convenience store in Pitt County were held up at gunpoint by a group of three men Thursday night.

Pitt County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Christy Wallace says the Country Side Store on Stantonsburg Rd. was held up around 10 p.m. She says one man opened the door for two armed men to run in the store. The men who ran in had assault rifles, according to Wallace.

Deputies say there were three people in the store working, and there were customers in the parking lot. No one was injured.

The robbers were in the store for less than a minute and left without taking anything.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (252) 758-7777.
