Maysville Breaks Ground On Downtown Renovation Project

By  |

A major facelift got underway Tuesday for Maysville.

Town leaders broke ground on the first of many projects. The idea is to revitalize downtown Maysville, improving the appearance starting with the right-of-way in front of the Piggly Wiggly.

"The idea is if we can get the downtown looking better, it will attract more people. They'll want to relocate here, invest here, and bring their business here," said Town Manager Jonathan Franklin.

The money to fund these projects comes from a $125,000 grant from the N.C. Step program. The goal over the next few years is to make the Jones County town more pedestrian, driver and business friendly.
