If you travel towards the Great Lakes you will often hear meteorologists talking about lake effect snow events during the winter months. Without a large body of water like Lake Erie, Ontario or Michigan, it is tough to develop a similar lake effect situation here in Eastern North Carolina. Now while it won't go down as an actual "Lake Effect Snow", it was certainly a rare event that has this meteorologist combing through the atmospheric data to see how it all came together.
