Marine Killed In Nevada Explosion Will Be Remembered At Camp Lejeune

One of the seven Camp Lejeune Marines killed in last week's explosion in Nevada will have a memorial service back here in Eastern Carolina with full military honors.

The memorial service for Lance Corporal Mason Vanderwork will be held at noon on Saturday at Onslow Beach.

Vanderwork, who formerly lived in Hickory, was a member of 1st Battalion, 9th Marines at Camp Lejeune.

The 21-year-old Marine is survived by his wife, Taylor, as well as his parents.

Another memorial service for Vanderwork will be held on Monday in Hickory.
