One of two men who police say broke into a woman's home last summer while she was inside has pleaded guilty to those charges.
Maceo Gardner, and his brother Mark, were nabbed by police in the yard of Gina Hathaway's Westhaven home in Greenville. The woman heard the intruders, locked herself in her upstairs bathroom and called 911. "They tried to push in the bathroom door, and I pushed back. I really thought they were going to kill me," Hathaway told WITN last summer.
This morning Hathaway was in the courtroom when Maceo Gardner pleaded guilty to first degree burglary, felony breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking & entering. He was sentenced to serve between 21 and 28 years in prison.
The victim says she's happy with the sentence and feels justice has been served in her.
Prosecutors say Mark Gardner's case will be heard next week. They say if no plea is given then the state will move forward with his trial.
