A man wanted by North Carolina authorities has been found in Roswell, New Mexico.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says they were investigating a domestic dispute back in November when William Whitehurst left the state.
Deputies got a report from Child Services, that a child had been assaulted at a home on Highway 32 North in Pinetown.
After an investigation, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office charged 34-year-old Whitehurst with assault by strangulation and misdemeanor child abuse.
After Whitehurst left the state, deputies say they listed him as a wanted person.
The suspect is currently being held without bond in New Mexico, awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
