Man Wanted For Weekend Pitt County Shooting In Jail

The search is over for a man accused of being involved in a shooting in Pitt County Saturday night.

Pitt County Detention Center deputies said Gregory Dixon of Fountain was arrested around 9:45 p.m. Monday.

Deputies were looking for Dixon after he shot Timothy Bynum during a fight about a woman on Best Drive Saturday night. Bynum was shot in the forearm and has been treated for his wound.

Dixon faces several charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Dixon is now waiting for his first appearance in court and is being held on a $101,000 bond.

Deputies say Bynum and others were sitting in front of his home when Dixon was dropped off. The two began arguing about a woman, and it escalated into a fist fight. Witnesses say Dixon pulled out a black handgun and shot Bynum in the left forearm.

The victim was treated and released from Vidant Medical Center.
