A driver was seriously injured after his car ran off a highway, and nearly hit a home with two people inside.
The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. on Highway 903 south of Snow Hill.
State troopers say the car was heading north when it went off the left side of the road, went into a yard and struck one tree before coming to a rest against another tree.
The man inside the car was trapped, and had to be freed by rescue crews.
The people inside the home at first thought the loud bang was lightning, but it wasn't raining at the time.
The driver, whose name hasn't been released, was sent to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
