A man was rescued this afternoon from the cold waters of the Tar River in Greenville.
Greenville fire officials tell us walkers on the Tar River Boardwalk called 911 at around 2:30 this morning after they saw the man floating in the water. Crews Put their boat into the water at the First Street Boat Ramp to begin the search. They say the man was struggling in the fast moving current about 200 yards down stream. The man was awake but in distress.
The crew of three Greenville Fire Rescue members jumped into the 45 degree water to rescue him. He was transported to Vidant Medical Center. No word yet on his condition.
