A Bertie County man has been charged with the statutory rape of a teenage girl in neighboring Martin County.
Christopher Mizelle of Windsor was arrested Tuesday on two charges of statutory rape and one count of statutory sex offense.
Deputies say they were notified of the rape allegations on February 10th and through examination of physical evidence and interviews they were able to identify a suspect. Deputies have not said how old the victim was in this case, but the charges say she was between four and six years younger than the suspect.
The 19-year-old's bond was set at $150,000 and Mizelle has a March 20th court date.
