A man in the east is accused of leading law enforcement on a chase both in a vehicle and on foot.

Officer Chris Turner with Simpson Police says that he tried to stop 29-year-old Trayawn Burgess of Martin County for a traffic violation on McDonald Street around 10:15 Sunday night. When he did so, Turner says that Burgess sped off in his vehicle. The chase ended up on Ivy Road with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office assisting in pursuit.

We're told by police that Burgess ended up on foot and was tracked by a sheriff's K-9 unit. Burgess was eventually caught in the Windbrooke subdivision according to Turner.

Officials say that Burgess is facing felony fleeing to elude arrest and numerous traffic violations.

Officer Turner says that at this time it's believed Burgess took off because of previous driving violations and that he didn't have a license.
