Man Accused Of Attempted Rape

A man is accused to trying to rape a woman and committing sexual battery on her.

Joseph Jimenez of Newport is charged with attempted second degree rape, sexual battery and assault on a female.

Carteret County deputies say the victim was known to Jiminez and that the sexual assault took place this month in Newport.

The 41-year-old was jailed on a $50,000 bond.
