Local Middle Schooler Wins College Scholarship

A local middle school student has won an award that earns him $2,000 per year towards college. That's as long as he keeps his grades up.

Christian Chavez could earn a total of $20,000 for college through the Victor E. Bell Junior Scholarship.

The Northwoods Park Middle School student is one of ten 7th graders to be awarded the scholarship from The College Foundation.

The 13 year old plays violin and enjoys soccer. He is also a Boy Scout who aspires to one day be an Eagle Scout.
