UPDATE: Roanoke Electric: Bertie Co. Outage Caused By Dominion Power Line Break

Roanoke Electric Cooperative sent a press release Thursday about a New Year's Eve power outage saying members in the Bertie County area were without power for a few hours Tuesday night with early reports coming in at 6:00 p.m.

The press release says due to a break in one of Dominion Power’s primary lines feeding the cooperative’s Merry Hill Substation, it caused an outage to roughly 250 of the company’s members. It says at one point 750 members had no power as Dominion had to take the entire substation offline for repairs. Roanoke Electric say service was fully restored to the affected members in about 2.5 hours.

“We’d like to thank our members for their patience and understanding during this restoration period,” said Marshall Cherry, Chief Operating Officer. “We’ll stay committed to providing our members with reliable service.”
