Lenoir County Man Hospitalized In Rollover

An early morning drive to work ended in a wreck off of a rural road on the Lenoir-Duplin County line.

Troopers got the call around 5:20 Tuesday morning. They say Jerry Elkins from the Deep Run community in Lenoir County left for work right after 5:00 a.m.

While driving on Edward Grady Road his Chevy Tahoe went of the road, he over-corrected, hit a ditch, and the Tahoe rolled. Elkins was thrown from the vehicle. It's believed he went through the drivers side window. He was found near his Tahoe.

Elkins was flown to Vidant Medical Center and placed in the intensive care unit. His condition is unknown at this time.
