SNOW DAYS: Schools Announce Additional Make Up Schedule

Pitt County Schools will make up the missed time from the February 12 cancellation by extending the two early release days left on the calendar.

Those days are March 13 and April 7.

This means that Pitt County Schools will operate on a regular schedule on those days, rather than dismissing three hours early.

School districts in Eastern Carolina who lost multiple days this week because of the snow are starting to announce make up days.

Lenoir County

Students who missed three days of school this week in Lenoir County will head to class on Saturday to make up one of those days.

Saturday will be an early-opt out day, meaning students will be dismissed at noon.

So far this year, Lenoir County has been closed for seven school days because of winter weather.

Earlier this week the school board changed two teacher work days, February 21 and March 28, to instructional days and converted two half days, February 20 and February 27 to full days. The county also will use time built into their regular school calendar to make up the fourth lost day.

Lenoir County says no decision has been made yet about the other two missed days this week.

Carteret County

Carteret County students will go to school a full day on Monday, instead of a half day as originally planned.

The school system lost two days this week because of the bad weather and will announce additional make-up plans after a meeting with the county school board next month.

Jones County

Students in Jones County will head to class this Saturday to help make up lost days because of the snow.

Saturday will be a half-day for Jones County students, who will report at regular time and be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.
