Lejeune High School Students To Turn Their Tassels

A graduation ceremony for a local high school will be bittersweet as some students prepare to turn their tassels without the accompaniment of their parents.

Eighty-five Lejeune High School students will walk across the stage to receive their diploma Thursday.

Brig. Gen. Robert F. Castellvi, Commanding General of the Marine Corps Installations East, will be the speaker at the commencement.

Many parents will be unavailable to physically see their graduate walk because they are currently deployed, but will be able to watch the ceremony from abroad.

The school will be recording the ceremony and sending a live-feed to those parents who are deployed, so they can take part in the joy, too.

Lejeune High School students will graduate 5 p.m. Thursday at the Base Theater abroad Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville.
