Legislation Would Eliminate Ferry Tolls

Legislation has been introduced in both the NC House & Senate to eliminate tolls and authorize the Ferry Division to raise revenue in other ways.

"Ferry Tolling Alternatives," House Bill #475 and Senate Bill #524, were filed by a coalition of Republicans and Democrats.

Lawmakers from Eastern Carolina involved in the legislation are Democrat State Representative Paul Tine, and Republican Senators Norman Sanderson and Bill Cook.

The bills suggest money could be raised by selling numerous concessions, including wireless internet service, selling naming rights to ferries boats, routes, and buildings, and numerous individual advertising opportunities.
