Law enforcement officials in Pitt County were learning about the new sweepstakes law Wednesday through a webinar conducted by the School of Government at UNC Chapel Hill.

The webinar came nearly two weeks after a court ban on the businesses went into effect.

Some businesses have closed while others updated software and remain open.

That has left law enforcement officials trying to determine how best to enforce the law.

District Attorney Clark Everett says they will learn more about the new software to see if it is compliant with the law.

The D.A. says anyone who is caught not complying with the law could face jail time after the 3rd offense.
