Police Officer Out Of Hospital After Injury At Accident Scene

A Greenville police officer is taking a couple of days off after being injured at a car accident scene Tuesday.

The unidentified officer was walking down the steps of an ambulance
when he slipped and fell. He hit the back of his head on the steps.

The accident happened around 5:15 p.m. on Evans Street in front of the Chick-fil-A involving two cars.

Chief Hassan Aden says the officer was released from Vidant Medical Center last night. The chief says the officer is expected to be okay, but was told to take a couple of days off from work.

A Greenville police officer was injured late this afternoon at an accident scene.

Rescue crews and police had responded to the crash on Evans Street in front of the Chick-fil-A involving two cars.

WITN's Lindsey Fry says the officer was walking down the steps of the ambulance when he slipped and fell. He hit the back of his head on the steps.

Another ambulance was called to the scene to transport the injured officer to the hospital.

The accident closed two of the five lanes of Evans Street.

It involved two cars, one which appeared to be hit on the passenger side. Multiple ambulances were called to the scene, but it's not yet known how serious those injuries were.
