In Lenoir County, the winter weather didn't stop some locals from grabbing a bite to eat Tuesday afternoon.
King's Restaurant has been serving up hot homemade plates to locals and travelers for 75 years.
They had some customers around lunchtime on Tuesday, but it was pretty empty for a normal day.
Owner Joe Hargitt says the winter weather has put a damper on business, but that patrons know King's is dependable and open when the road conditions get rough.
Hargitt says, "We've been here a very long time. They know we brave the elements a little more than most local businesses would. We've been open for hurricanes, floods, and snowstorms before. They've seen it and they're used to it and expect it out of us. As long as we can provide safety for our servers, we'll be here."
Hargitt says road conditions during the last winter storm were bad enough that King's did close for one day.
