An arrest has been made in Kinston's blue bandana robberies.
Kinston police have charged Tymone Murphy with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Police say the man held up the Dollar General on West Vernon Avenue on May 1st and then later that same night robbed the Kangaroo Express on Highway 258 North. In both cases the gunman was wearing a blue bandana.
The 17-year-old was jailed on a $200,000 secured bond.
Kinston police do not believe their two blue bandana robberies are connected to one in Greenville that happened the night before.
Records show Murphy was convicted of assault on an officer and served two months in state prison, being released in February.
Police say they have released surveillance pictures of a person of interest in one of three blue bandana robberies this week.
Kinston police released surveillance photos on a man who was inside the Kangaroo Express, minutes before the Dollar General on West Vernon Avenue was robbed Wednesday night. The two businesses are across the street from each other.
In the video is a man wearing a blue hoodie. Police say minutes later a man with a blue or black hoodie and a blue bandana covering his face held up the Dollar General.
Kinston police are not saying whether this person is also possibly connected to the robbery later that night of the Kangaroo Express on Highway 258 North.
Greenville police are also investigating the robbery at the Trade Wilco at 512 SW Greenville Blvd. on Tuesday night with a gunman also wearing a blue bandana covering his face.
Anyone who knows who the man is in the picture should call Kinston police.
There are two more reports of a robber wearing a blue bandana over his face holding up businesses in Eastern Carolina, this time in Kinston.
Kinston police say they are working with Greenville police to see if there is any connection to their two bandana holdups and the one Tuesday night in Greenville.
The first holdup in Kinston happened around 6:25 p.m. at the Dollar General Store on West Vernon Avenue. They say a back man, approximately 5'6", 150 pounds, wearing a black or dark blue hoodie and a blue bandana covering his face jumped the counter and took money from the cash register.
Around 11:10 p.m. the Kangaroo Express on Highway 258 North was robbed by a man with the exact same description.
No one was injured in either holdup.
The description matches that from Greenville police of the robber at the Trade Wilco at 512 SW Greenville Blvd. on Tuesday night. No arrests have been made in that robbery or the other four reported in Greenville late Tuesday and early Wednesday.
The search is on for the armed robber who held up a Dollar General store Wednesday night while customers were inside.
