Kinston Woman's Daughter Found Safe In Germany

The daughter of a Kinston woman, who has been missing since a trip to Europe, has been found in Germany.

Twenty-year-old Emilee Irsik, a junior at Emporia State University in Kansas, was with German authorities when she called her family around noon Thursday. Her mother, Sherry Irsik, of Kinston, told The Associated Press she is "thrilled beyond measure" and looking forward to being reunited with her daughter.

But she said she didn't speak long with her daughter and had "zero information" about what happened.

A German newspaper reports a British Airways employee recognized Emilee when she tried to buy a plane ticket a few hours before a flight to the U.S.

Emilee Irsik had been studying German at Emporia State. She left Oct. 19 during the school's fall break and landed the next day in Hamburg.

Her roommates notified the school when Irsik didn't show up for classes Oct. 22.

A Kinston woman says it's been two weeks since her daughter was last seen after taking a trip to Europe.

Emilee Irsik is a student at Emporia State University in Kansas and a native of Wichita. Her parents now live in Lenoir County.

The 20-year-old flew into Hamburg, Germany on October 20th and didn't return from fall break on the 26th.

Authorities in both the U.S. and in Europe are now searching for the missing student.

On Thursday, Sherry Irsik met with the FBI in Greenville about her missing daughter's case. She had this message for her daughter, "Whatever your desires were, all we want to know is that you're okay and that you are safe," said a tearful mom. "Whatever the truth is, we can handle with God's grace and we have always stood beside you and we just want to know you are safe."

Tonight you'll hear more from the mother in her first television interview on WITN News at 5 & 6.
