Kinston Chef Up For National Honor

A Kinston restaurant is in the running for a big honor.

Ten chefs and restaurants in our state have been named semifinalists for the James Beard Foundation's annual awards, what are known as the Oscars of the food world.

Vivian Howard of Chef And The Farmer in Kinston is a semifinalist for best chef southeast.

Howard was also named a semifinalist in 2012.

Finalists will be named at an event on March 18th in Chicago.

The winners will be announced on May 5th at a red carpet event in New York City.
