A Swansboro man will spend at least the next seven years in state prison after being found guilty of robbing a restaurant in 2011.
A jury deliberated just one hour today before finding Dennis Jackson guilty of robbing the T&W Oyster Bar on Highway 58 in Carteret County.
Authorities say the restaurant was robbed of $2,000 by two men wearing ski masks. At the time Jackson was out on parole in Maryland for four armed robberies committed in 1992.
Because Maryland had collected Jackson's DNA after his conviction, Carteret County deputies were able to tie him to evidence left at T&W.
Because of his North Carolina conviction, Jackson could face another 26 years in prison in Maryland when he is released here.
