People in Jones County who have been told to boil their water since Wednesday no longer need to do so.
The Jones County Regional Water System says their tests show the water supply is free of bacteria after a water main break earlier this week.
The Jones County Regional Water System says some of their customers are experiencing water outages and low water pressure because of the water main break. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for bacteria to get into the water system.
Officials suggest customers of the Jones County Regional Water System should boil water vigorously for one minute before human consumption, which includes drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice and washing hands. Boiling the water will kill any bacteria that may have gotten into the water. The other option is to use bottled water.
The advisory is in effect until further notice from the Jones County Regional Water System.
