A Jamesville man is facing charges after a teenager died following a swim with friends in a Washington County pond.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office says Michael Hodges of Jamesville has been indicted for involuntary manslaughter and obstruction of justice. The indictments are a result of the June 2013 drowning of 19-year-old Hashawn Cherry, who went by Shawn Moore.
The teen's body was recovered around 7:15 p.m. on June 19 by members of the Sydney Dive Team, Washington County EMS and personnel from the Plymouth Fire Department.
Deputies say Cherry and three other young men were swimming off of a small boat in the pond on Long Ridge Road. They say after swimming for a short time, friends noticed Cherry struggling to stay afloat.
On Thursday, Hodges was arrested without incident. He's been taken to Washington County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.
Deputies say additional arrests are pending in the case.
