Jacksonville Works To Trim $2.4-Million From Budget

Cutting millions of dollars from a city budget is never easy but that the task facing Jacksonville city leaders as they work to slash $2.4 million dollars.

Jacksonville city manager Richard Woodruff presents his budget plan to the mayor and city council Tuesday evening,

In all, Woodruff has 17 possible plans and says all of them are painful. Woodruff says, "They either mean tax increases, fee increases or reduction in services."

Some of the options include making some serious cuts to the city's fire and police departments.

The budget meeting will start Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at the council chamber.

Woodruff says the reason for the shortfall is a change in funding formula by the county commission.
