Jacksonville Temperatures Climb Into the Hundreds With Heat Index

The summer heat Eastern Carolina is known for has definitely made itself known this week.

For some people it's easy to beat the heat, but others find themselves working outside no matter what the forecast.

"It's got to get done. Whether it's hot or not its got to get done," says Roy Lawson with English Construction. "We can't stop because of the heat."

WITN meteorologists say there were about five 90 degree days in July and nine in June. The worst heat could be yet to come as August is generally the hottest month of the year in the east.

On Thursday, it felt like 103 degrees in Jacksonville if you factor in the heat index.
