A motorcyclist leads Jacksonville police on a high-speed chase before being arrested with the help of a community group.
Police say 19-year-old Steven Parra of Camp Lejeune was driving a motorcycle on one wheel Friday at around 8:00 p.m. He was going north on Gum Branch Road towards Henderson Drive when police first tried to stop him, but police say Parra did not stop. Instead, the 19-year-old continued speeding down Gum Branch Road, weaving in and out of traffic. Police say because of the high volume of traffic, the pursuit of Parra was discontinued.
However, officers from Jacksonville PD's Community Response Team found Parra in the parking area behind Convergys on Western Blvd. Extension where he was taken into custody.
The motorcycle was taken by authorities under the "Run and You're Done" law.
Parra is charged with aggressive driving, unsafe movement, eluding arrest, speeding, and reckless driving to endanger. His bond is set at $6,000.
