Jacksonville Man Convicted Of Killing Girlfriend In DWI Wreck

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- A Jacksonville man has been convicted in a wreck that killed his girlfriend.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reported that 41-year-old Michael Eugene Kincaid was convicted Thursday of felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired and careless and reckless driving.

Judge W. Allen Cobb sentenced Kincaid to 20 to 36 months in prison.

Police say Kincaid was driving in Jacksonville with Terri Denise Padgett when they crashed on April 1, 2012. Both were thrown from the vehicle and Padgett died at the scene.

Prosecutors said Kincaid's blood alcohol level was 0.16, twice the legal limit in North Carolina.
