The Internal Revenue Service says they have nearly $1 billion in unclaimed funds, and if you're one of those taxpayers that may be affected, time is running out to claim your money.
Taxpayers have a maximum of 3 years to claim a refund before the money is turned over to the treasury department. But that means, you have to file your federal tax returns from 2009 before April 15th or your money may still be withheld.
