Officials say a small fire at a substation in Merry Hill caused an outage that left hundreds without power overnight.

According to the Roanoke Electric Cooperative, the largest outage affects 181 customers in the Windsor area, and there were several other scattered outages, including in Merry Hill. The power went out around 10:45 p.m. Monday.

The power company says power was restored within two hours.
