FIREFIGHTERS: Family of Five Escapes House Fire in Everetts

A family of five escaped an early morning house fire in Martin County that left their home charred.

Fire crews tell WITN they got the call around 3:40 Tuesday morning to 202 N. Broad St. in Everetts.

Crews said three children and an engaged couple escaped the fire and were not hurt.

The home was fairly old, and crews said its age contributed to the fact that it burned so quickly.

Crews were able to get the blaze under control before 5 a.m. and stayed on scene to watch hot spots.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.


Fire crews got an early Tuesday morning call to a fully involved house fire in Martin County.

Dispatchers say the home at 202 N. Broad St. in Everetts caught fire around 3:40 Tuesday morning.

No injuries have been reported.

Once WITN's videographer arrived, he said it was apparent the home was destroyed.

By 5 a.m., officials said the fire was out and crews were working to contain hot spots.
