Homeless Sex Offender Arrested For Not Staying At Registered Shelter Address

Beaufort County deputies say they went looking for a registered sex offender when his GPS tracking device stopped working.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's office say Robert Barnes III wasn't staying at his registered address.

The 36-year-old had not stayed at the Zion Homeless Shelter in Washington since August 10th.

Deputies located Barnes walking down West 5th Street 5 days later.

Under state law, registered sex offenders have only three days to notify the sheriff's office of any change in address.

Barnes is being held on $10,000 bond.
