Highway 33 Bridge In Chocowinity Re-Opens

Traffic is flowing freely again on a local bridge that ended up being closed a lot longer than projected.

The Highway 33 bridge in Chocowinity shut down almost a full year ago, and the Department of Transportation said it would be open by October. That deadline came and went.

Construction on the bridge began on February 18th, 2013. At the time the DOT predicted it would be finished by Halloween of 2013.

The nearly $4.2 million project replaces the bridge built in 1935.
