NEW INFO: Troopers Locate Suspected Hit & Run Driver

Troopers say a suspected hit and run driver turned herself in after a good Samaritan was hit while helping at another wreck.

The crash happened around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday night at the intersection of U.S. 70 and Williams Road, that's east of New Bern near the airport.

Troopers say Christian Thompson of Havelock was helping to clean the intersection and check on victims from the other wreck when a burgundy SUV came through the intersection and hit him. The SUV kept going.

The 20-year-old is in stable condition at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

The Highway Patrol says 49-year-old Debra Davis of New Bern has been charged with felony hit and run.

The woman turned herself in at noon today to state troopers.
