The Highway Patrol says a Beaufort County deputy was going about 100 miles per hour before his patrol car crashed Friday night while responding to a call.

Deputy David Kendrick was treated for minor injuries at Beaufort County Medial Center after the crash on Highway 33 near Dixon Road around 7:15 p.m.

The Sheriff's Office says Kendrick was responding to a call in Aurora where several suspicious people were hanging out near a bank entrance.

Troopers says the deputy over-corrected his cruiser, ran off the road, struck a street sign and several large trees. They estimate $10,000 in damage to the patrol car and say no charges are pending against Kendrick.
