Greenville City Councilman Files For At-Large Seat

Calvin Mercer currently represents District Four on the Greenville City Council, but he's running for the at-large seat in the November election.

Mercer is filing just before today's noon deadline at the Pitt County Board of Elections.

Rick Smiley, who unsuccessfully ran for the at-large seat in 2011, is running for the District Four seat this time. Dennis Mitchell currently holds that seat.

Calvin Mercer currently holds the seat. He is currently at the Board of Elections in Greenville, and he reportedly has paperwork for mayor, the district four seat and the at-large seat.
