Greenville Police: Burglary Suspect Linked To 2 Sexual Assault Cases

Greenville police say a man arrested for a weekend burglary has been linked to two sexual assaults.

Police say Saturday officers responded to 1801 East 1st Street in reference to a burglary and tracked down the suspect 29-year-old Jermaine Doughty nearby.

The Greenville Police Special Victims Unit linked Doughty to a sexual assault reported January 8th at 500 Boxelder Way and a second sexual assault reported at 400 West 1st Street that was reported on February 24th.

Now Doughty is charged with attempted second degree sex Offense in the January case and second degree sex offense in the February case as well as second degree burglary, larceny, and assault on a female for this weekend's incident.

Doughty was confined in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $140,000 bond.
