A suspicious package found this morning at Social Security Office has been deemed safe.
The office on Charles Boulevard in Greenville was evacuated around 10:15 a.m. after a worker noticed a book bag that no one claimed.
The 16 employees inside were evacuated and police closed off the area until a SBI bomb squad could arrive.
About the time the bomb squad was going to enter the building, the owner of the book bag returned to the Social Security Office and identified his missing bag. The SBI then went into the building and retrieved the bag.
The Social Security Office will reopen at its normal time Thursday morning.
