Greenville Police Arrest Suspect In Popeye's Armed Robbery

Within a week of the crime, Greenville Police have arrested the suspect of the armed robbery at Popeye's Restaurant on South Memorial Drive.

On Friday, police arrested 25-year-old Markeith Devon Wilson in connection with the robbery on January 31.

Police say Wilson was taken into custody without incident, outside of his home on Larkin Lane.

On the night of January 31, employees were taking out the trash when the suspect entered through a back door.

Police say Wilson displayed a shotgun and demanded money from several employees before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

There were not any customers inside the store at the time. No one was hurt.

Wilson is charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, and was taken to the Pitt County Detention Center.

Greenville Police Department's Emergency Response Team, Tactical Anti-Crime Unit, detectives and patrol officers worked together to identify, locate and arrest Wilson.
