A Greenville Police official says it happened early Sunday morning. We’re told an officer with the police department’s housing authority saw 23-year-old Vernon Brown take part in a drug deal in the Glendale Court area off Hooker Road. Officials say Brown took off when approached by the officer and was seen throwing drugs during the chase.

Brown was eventually caught and arrested. He was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, misdemeanor resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officials say around 8 dosage units of marijuana were recovered.

Jail officials say he was brought in around 1:35 a.m. and was given a $50,000 secured bond.
