Greenville Pizza Business Robbed At Gunpoint

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a carry-out pizza business near the ECU campus.

The Papa John's Pizza on East 10th Street was held up around 10:20 a.m.

Police were combing the area around the business with canines and patrol units. A canine picked up a scent, but lost that track.

GPD spokeswoman Kristen Hunter says the business was closed at the time, with one employee inside. She said a man knocked on the front door, and asked for a napkin. As the employee was reaching for the napkin, the man pulled out a gun.

Hunter says the gunman took money from the business and ran out the back door toward ECU's campus.

He is described as a black man, around 5'11", and wearing either a brown and red, or black and red plaid shirt.

Anyone with information should call Greenville police at 252-329-4315.
