Greenville Man Charged With Strangling Woman

A man police say they found strangling a woman in a parking lot in Greenville is behind bars facing several charges.

Ricky Roberson, 23, of Greenville was arrested after police say he was assaulting a woman in a parking lot on Whitaker Drive around 7 p.m. Monday. According to police, Roberson also assaulted and communicated threats to other family members during the domestic incident. Roberson fought officer's attempts to arrest him.

Roberson is charged with four counts of Assault by Strangulation, Second Degree Kidnapping, five counts of Assault on a Female, Malicious Conduct by a Prisoner, two counts of Assault on a Government Official, and Injury to Personal Property.

Roberson's bond was set at $850,000.
