Greenville Man Charged For Selling Stolen Parts

Deputies said a Greenville man is facing charges of ripping off a local trucking company and selling the goods at a metal recycler.

Pitt County deputies arrested 50-year-old Johnny Hopkins for a felony count of larceny and five counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

Investigators accuse Hopkins of stealing a 1,600 pound tractor trailer axle, gas pumps, copper wiring, and other metal parts from Bothern Trucking on Old River Road.

Deputies said Hopkins sold the stolen items at a local metal recycling center.

Hopkins' bond was set at $100,000 when he was booked at the Pitt County Detention Center.
