Greenville Fire & Rescue Respond To Near Drowning Involving A Child

A 3-year-old child in Greenville was taken to the hospital following a near drowning Sunday evening.

An official with Greenville Fire & Rescue says that it happened just before 6 p.m. in a pond off Manning Forest Drive. Fire and Rescue says that the child was alert when they arrived on scene.

Fire officials say that the pond is about 6 foot deep with a fountain in it.

The child was taken to Vidant Medical Center to be checked out.
