Greenville Family Sells Record-Setting Ferarri

By  |

A rare 1967 Ferrari was sold at auction for a record setting $27.5 million dollars by a local family.

The red, Ferrari 275 GTB, 4 NART Spyder was one of only ten ever built.

This particular car was owned by the late Eddie Smith, a former mayor of Lexington, North Carolina. The car was then passed down to his son, Eddie Smith Jr., of Grady White Boats.

The elder Smith bought the car for $14,500 brand new.

The car has been in the Smith family for 45 years and was stored in a specially built garage after the elder Smith passed away in 2007.

Reports say every penny of the $27.5 million dollars will be donated to charity.
