Greenville Convict Facing New Charges, Due In Court

A man already serving a prison sentence for break-ins will appear before a judge on new charges against him in Greenville Friday.

Allen Smith, 22, started an eight-month prison sentence in October for car break-ins and burglary. However, he's now facing 24 new charges connected to break-ins of cars and buildings, filed by Greenville police.

He was transferred to the Pitt County Detention Center Thursday from the Bertie Correctional Institution ahead of his court appearance on Friday in Greenville.
